I think it is safe to say that despite my love of travel I am a pretty nervous flyer. I have always felt a certain amount of fear before getting on a plane from a young age. But as I have gotten older my fear has gotten stronger. Those around me seem to settle in and relax on planes. I on the other hand become consumed with thoughts of terrorism, wings and engines falling off, or even the pilot dropping dead and the aircraft falling out of the sky. Deep down I know most of my thoughts are ridiculous. And yes I have been told several times ‘you are more likely to die in a car accident of the way to the airport than dying in a plane crash’.
