10 reasons you should get married in Vegas

If you love travel then a destination wedding is a must. One of the most popular places in the world to get married is Las Vegas. Whilst on the one hand Vegas is notorious for hard core partying, it is also synonymous with weddings. Ever since Elvis and Priscilla tied the knot in 1967 at the Aladdin Hotel, Vegas has become a huge contender in the destination wedding market. We tied the knot there in October last year and for us it was perfect. So here are 10 reasons you should get married in Vegas.

Wondering is Las Vegas worth visiting read this post.

1 – If it’s good enough for Elvis

Like I mentioned above, Elvis and Priscilla tied the knot in Vegas in 1967. According to the couple they didn’t want a huge circus and wanted to spend the day with the ones that were closest to them. Since then Elvis has almost become the poster boy for getting married in the city. You can even be married by an Elvis impersonator if you really wanted to.

2 – You can get creative

Just google “Vegas Wedding” and you will be presented with a plethora of options. Want to get married in a helicopter?  You got it. On a rollercoaster? No problem. You can even pretend you are in Paris or Venice and get married at a themed hotel. You can be as creative as you want. If you think of it you can probably get married in it in Vegas.

3 – It’s cheaper then your average wedding

Apparently in the UK the cost of an average wedding exceeds the £25,000 mark! That’s fine if you want to pay that, but Vegas is a great alternative if not. Obviously you have to pay for flights and accommodation, but for the wedding itself you can pay as much or as little as you want for it. We got married at the Little White Wedding Chapel and prices here start at around $75.00 and go up depending on what you want.

4 – It’s also a lot less hassle

Usually with destination weddings you have less attendees which means there is far less hassle. You also don’t really need to worry about wedding rehearsals because most weddings are just off the cuff in Vegas. The other thing is, because people come from all over the world to get married in Vegas, your venue will usually help you plan and provide you with helpful tips. Apart from booking the venue and the photographer, we booked most of the other stuff like limos and flowers when we got to Vegas.

5 – It is basically one big holiday

Having your wedding in Vegas is basically one big holiday. For us one of the nicest things was being able to go on “vacation” with our families. Another huge part of having a destination wedding was because we love to travel, so why not incorporate a holiday with a wedding? At least you are guaranteed to be relaxed for your big day, well as much as you can be.

6 – You are almost guaranteed good weather

When we were in Vegas an Uber driver told us that they get almost 300 sunny days a year. So if you are worried about rain on your wedding day the odds are that it will probably be sunny for your big day.

7 – The photos will be amazing

There are so many amazing places in Las Vegas to get your photos taken. You can pretend you are in Venice and get your wedding pictures taken at the Venetian Hotel as a Gondola sails past you. The same goes for Paris, just replace the Gondola with the Eiffel Tower. Or you can go out into the desert and get some awesome nature shots. If you are looking for something a little retro, head to Freemont Street like we did where you can get some quirky photos taken. Our photos were taken by Joey Allen and you can have a look at his work here.

8 – You will make some great memories

By getting married somewhere so different like Las Vegas we certainly have created some unforgettable memories. From walking through our hotel lobby with everyone shouting “congratulations” as we made our way to our limo, to the photos we took with our family in Downtown Vegas. It was one of the best days of our lives and we often chuckle at the craziness of the day and location. We have so many wonderful stories from the day, and we are so glad we could share it with our families too.

9 – It’s unique

When we tell people we got married in Vegas they are all really fascinated by it. Despite the fact that so many people do get married there it is kind of a quirky and unique thing to do. Especially because we tailored the day to suit us. From our red, white, and black colour scheme, to our poker chip wedding cake. We did everything our way, and you can too.

10 – You will feel like all of Vegas is celebrating with you

No other city knows how to party quite like Vegas. You literally feel like the whole city is celebrating your nuptials with you. At one point we watched the fountain show at the Bellagio and we really did feel like those fountains were dancing just for us.
