2017 for us has been an amazing year, and we are so excited that we have been able to share this with all of you. We had our 1 year blogiversary back in October and it is amazing how much we have done in 12 short months.
We started the year in Dublin where we rang in the New Year with a lot of other drunk tourists in the Temple Bar area. It was chaotic and the bars were crowded, but it was so much fun.
We returned home with the intention of traveling less, as we were planning an October wedding and an epic Honeymoon. So we buckled down and saved our pennies. We did however embrace the staycation this year and made our way to York. It was here we braved the 275 steps to climb York Minster.
By May we were really itching to get away and we were given the incredible opportunity to visit Hamburg through the Come to Hamburg project. We fell in love with the city pretty quickly, and even got to stay in one of the city’s 5 star hotels, which you can read all about here.
We did some more saving and in August decided to spend some time staycationing in London. We ate ice cream with candy floss around it and got caught in the rain several times, but it was all worth it.
Around this time we also took part in the ‘Stay Local Uk’ campaign for the Mercure hotel chain, and had the opportunity to spend the night in Liverpool at the Mercure Liverpool Atlantic Tower. We spent the rest of our time dancing in the Cavern Club and even got to do a Beatles Tour of the city.
It felt like ages but eventually October did roll around and we were off on our US adventure. We will be writing all about it over the coming months, so look out for our posts. On this trip we visited Chicago, San Francisco, LA, Big Bear Lake, Las Vegas, New York City, Toronto and Zurich. It was exhausting but so much fun and if I am honest the post holiday blues have well and truly kicked in. It was amazing getting to do our wedding our way, at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas with our close family watching on.
We got home at the end of October and managed to catch our breath only slightly before I turned 30. And so we jetted off to Edinburgh for the weekend.
We also had the amazing opportunity to return to Hamburg for the Christmas Markets, which has been a bucket list item for us for so long.
The last year has been a real adventure, and it means so much that you have all been there to follow us. Thank you everyone for reading our blog posts, for liking our Instagram photos and for retweeting our tweets. We have some big plans for the blog next year, and we will of course be writing all about our time in America, Toronto, and Edinburgh. Apart from that we also have plans to visit Cornwall and Lisbon early in the year which again we look forward to sharing with you. So thank you everyone so much, and here is to a fantastic 2018 together.
