10 places to visit that you will fall in love with at first sight

Have you ever been somewhere and just fallen head over heels in love with a place at first sight? Well we have compiled our top 10 list of places where Cupid’s travel arrow has struck:

10 – Dubai

A roaring metropolis located in the middle of the desert. Dubai was built to make you fall in love upon first glance. It’s so brash and flashy that you have no choice but to admit defeat and just love it. The skyscrapers are impressive and looking up it is hard to determine where they end and the sky begins. Walking around the malls you feel like you are in a grown up playground, where instead of swings and slides you have designer brands and fancy restaurants. And don’t even get me started with the hotels. Cocktails in the pool get our hearts every time.

9 – London

I fell in love with London from the sky. I remember looking out my window upon descent into Heathrow one December morning. Even with the heavy rain I caught a glimpse of the London eye by the Thames and I knew I wanted to explore. It has the right amount of British class and charm (Buckingham Palace and pretty much anywhere in Chelsea) mixed with the hustle and bustle of city life (Piccadilly Circus springs to mind) and enough quirkiness to make you really fall in love (Camden).

8 – Chicago

It is the architecture that really impresses you in downtown Chicago and it immediately helps you forget that you are standing where some of the most gruesome gunfights and murders occurred during the prohibition era and the heyday of Capone. A couple of slices of deep dish pizza and a few cocktails later and Chicago can easily take your heart.

7 – Singapore

Travel Singapore

Gardens by the bay

I always fall in love with Singapore the moment that the captain puts on the fasten seatbelt sign and we begin our descent. At night the little fishing boats and ferries are illuminated in the black water and they look like candles floating in a bath. The cars become tiny ants navigating their way through an array of skyscrapers. The reception doesn’t stop at the skies, once you are on solid ground Changi airport is dotted with Orchids in full bloom welcoming you to the Orient. The city itself is a bustling metropolis and it probably one of the cleanest cities we have every visited. Try sipping cocktails on the 63rd floor of a skyscraper and tell me you don’t instantly love the place?

6 – Sydney

It’s full of blue skies and warm weather. Need I say more? You can sip cocktails whilst marvelling at the architectural wonder that is the Opera House, or you can jump on a ferry for an unbelievable view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It’s what love at first sight is all about.

5 – Amsterdam

If you manage to avoid getting hit by a bike and ending up in hospital the moment you step foot in the city then you are one step closer to falling in love with the place. Beautiful buildings, boat filled canals and an electric atmosphere make Amsterdam a sultry contender in our love at first sight list. If you are still struggling though, head to a coffee shop, trust us you will fall in love with anything after that.

4 – New York

It’s the city that has inspired so many artists. The moment you step foot in the city and stare up at the sky scrapers it really hits you, you are in New York. There is so much to see and do that even being yelled at by a local with a heavy New York accent, as you block their path to take a picture of your 50th yellow cab, cannot bring you down.

3 – Paris

No love at first sight list can exist without Paris. You can walk around the Seine arm in arm as the moon reflects off the water and the Eiffel Tower lights up in the background. You can eat bread and cheese and drink wine as you stare out the window at the busy streets filled with Parisians going about their daily lives. Talk about love at first sight.

2 – Prague

Red snow capped roofs, swan filled rivers, and vendors selling mulled wine at nearly every corner, you can’t help but fall in love with Prague. The whole city looks like the setting for a fairy tale. And you can just walk around aimlessly taking it all in.

1 – Venice

Venice, Italy

You can’t help but fall in love with a city that allows you to arrive by water taxi. The buildings are full of character and history. As you sit by a canal watching the Gondolas and water taxi’s float by you really feel like you would give your soul just to stay here in this moment forever.

I’ve not been to all of these places yet but I have agree with the ones that I know. I would have included Rome on my list too though, so much history and such great food!

Good choices! I agree with most of the cities on your list. Would add Istanbul (at least 6 years ago), San Francisco, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Sevilla. I guess it’s very hard to choose a top 10 list 😉
